Aisha Jumwa, a candidate for the position of Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Public Service, Gender, and Affirmative Action, has denied accusations of murder on the grounds that she doesn’t even own a gun.
“I don’t own a gun and never applied for a gun. My cases were politically instigated. The murder trial, I empathise with the family it is unfortunate. Im clear in my mind I never shot anyone. I am not a gun holder. Three witnesses have testified in court and have not mentioned my name anywhere,” Aisha Jumwa came before the court.
While sympathizing with Ngumbao’s family and describing the situation as sad, the former Malindi MP insisted that she did not shoot the victim and that no witness had testified against her in court.
She then addressed the issues around the cases that the ODPP had dismissed, particularly those that included the misuse of funds and in which her name was mentioned. She expressed satisfaction over the dismissals and said that they were simply political witch hunts.
Following the chaos that broke out during the Ganda Ward by-elections in 2019, Jumwa and her assistant Geoffrey Okuto are accused of killing Jola.
“it wasn’t easy even for me to score the D- you are seeing there. I had to take myself to class after class after dropping out in form two. I am not even shy because its in public domain, but that is not qualification for me to sit in cabinet, I think the person who nominated me did his due diligence, I represent the real hustler,” she narrated as she elaborated on her academic qualification.
As the former member of parliament described to the parliamentary committee her struggles with forced marriage and how she overcame them to get to where she is now, she broke down in tears.
