Why All The Rarieda MPs Have Always Had Problems With Raila Amollo Odinga

Published:

From the historical records, it is evident that almost all those leaders who have served as members of parliament (Mps) for Rarieda constituency have always been at loggerheads with the ODM boss Raila Amollo Odinga.

From the former Rarieda legislators ranging from Raphael Tuju, Nicholas Gumbo and the incumbent senior counsel Otiende Amollo, it seems the trend of Raila Odinga brushing shoulders with them is not ending anytime soon.

Despite the drama, these leaders are amongst those from the larger Luo Nyanza who have received standing ovation due to their good performance in the region. For instance, Raphael Tuju who is the current Secretary general for the Jubilee party is accredited with promoting education by building five new secondary schools within Rarieda constituency.

As a result, the high school enrollment in the larger Rarieda constituency significantly increased during Raphael Tuju’s reign more than any other former MP. Besides, Tuju invented an innovative mobile hospital to combat HIV/AIDS and malaria, an initiative which greatly reduced the infant mortality rate. Tuju’s major water projects for the people of Rarieda cannot also go without being talked about.

On his side, Nicholas Odero Gumbo also left positive footprints in the larger constituency which he really rode on when he contested the Siaya gubernatorial seat in the 2017 general elections.

During his time, he helped poor children get education by paying their school fees and also assisted the widows in the region in various ways. Another thing Nicholas Gumbo is remembered for is his role in putting Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru to task over the NYS scandal when he served as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

With regards to the incumbent Otiende Amollo, he has equally done so much in crucial sectors touching on education, health, security, building homes for the vulnerable, improving roads and water and sanitation services.

Before his election as the Rarieda legislator, Otiende Amollo contributed significantly to the drafting of the 2010 Kenyan constitution and also served as the ombudsman.

Thus, one wonders why all these competent mps have always differed with the opposition leader Raila Odinga ideologically.
