Elizabeth Nalem shot to fame in June 2021 when it was reported that she left her husband and six children to marry holy spirit in a church wedding.
Nalem’s controversial wedding was well covered in the media, photos and videos of her exchanging vows with invisible holy spirit circulated online making many wonder if she was insane.
Soon after her wedding, Nalem set off to Uganda for her honeymoon. The mother of six told the media that holy spirit had guided her to the neighboring country and planned to travel to the US later.
“God has shown me to travel to the United States when I am done with Uganda. He told me to traverse the world but I told him I won’t be able to and requested him to recruit other members to help me in spreading the gospel,” Elizabeth Nalem told the Standard.
Nalem’s husband has begged her to go back home but she insisted that her newly wedded husband holy spirit would have to give her permission.
“I talked to my husband and told him to take care of my children. I am being guided by the Holy Spirit. When He tells me to go back home, I will but right now he [holy spirit] hasn’t,” she said.
“God knows how my children will eat. I have left them in God’s hands,” Nalem added.
Nalem’s husband expressed that he was confused by the turn of events but would not hinder her from pursuing her heart’s desires.
“I am okay with it. There are no two weddings, but I am shocked. I don’t understand what is happening. She is my wife and I have paid 22 cows as dowry. We have six children and one has finished Form Four recently,” Nalem’s husband said.
Fast forward to April 2022, Elizabeth Nalem is reported dead. Her body was found in a forest on Saturday April 2nd after she went missing.
Police reports indicate that Nalem went to look for firewood in a nearby forest armed with a panga, but she never went back home.
Nalem’s mutilated body was found in the forest on Saturday, investigations have been launched to determine who killed holy spirit’s wife.
According to locals, Nalem was with opposition after returning home from her honeymoon in Uganda with her holy spirit husband.
It’s reported that some villagers in her home in West Pokot county wanted to lynch her for neglecting her family ever since she married the holy spirit.
It’s widely believed that the threats Nalem faced after marrying the holy spirit has to do with her murder. But why couldn’t the holy spirit protect her from her killers??
