Suspect arrested with a stolen G3 riffle in Siaya

A suspect in Siaya was caught with a stolen G3 rifle that was reported stolen back in 2019.Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Siaya on Sunday arrested a 23-year-old suspect and recovered a firearm reportedly stolen from a police station last year.

Kelvin Oduor Onyango was nabbed during the covert operation conducted by the DCI sleuths based in Siaya County.

The 23-year-old man was arrested in Siaya after he unknowingly sold a stolen government firearm(G3) to detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI).

“The detectives posed as potential buyers and the firearms were delivered to them within Siaya township where one suspect namely Kevin Oduor Onyango was arrested,” DCI said in a brief statement of Sunday, July 5.

The officers further recovered one Kenya Army trouser, Kenya police raincoat, and a smoke camouflage jacket.

According to DCI, the ammunitions were positively identified as those that were stolen from Umala Police Station in Siaya county in December 2019.

The suspect is currently in police custody waiting to be arraigned in court.
