“Shame On You Judiciary” Siaya Governor Orengo Blasts Supreme Court Judges

Published:

The governor for Siaya County James Orengo has said the judgment rendered by the judiciary was not a judicial judgment.

Speaking at a funeral in Gem constituency, Siaya County, he condemned the judiciary for not using judicial literature while giving the verdict.

This comes a few days after the senior counsel had said after the ruling that they accept the decision made by the Supreme Court but they do not agree with it.

“Courts sometimes make mistakes which are to be corrected over time. Courts make political decisions…” said Orengo after the ruling.

The governor says that the judgment made was to serve a purpose that is different from what is required by the law. He adds that the writer of the judgment has done a great injustice to the rule of law.

“The literature contained in that judgment was not judicial literature.” Says Orengo.

The governor was among the representatives of Azimio Coalition and during his arguments at the court he said that none of the presidential candidate attained the 50% plus one vote of all the votes cast per the constitution in Article 4A.

Orengo terms the act of the judiciary as injustice to the rule of law. He blames the Supreme Court judges for their choice of words used by the judges in their ruling.

“Not even a baraza presided by a chief would use the kind of language that was used by the Supreme Court” said Orengo.

Chief Justice Martha Koome termed the evidence provided by the Azimio team as ‘no more than hot air’ while referring to lawyer Julie Soweto.

The senior council adds that Raila Odinga is one of the people who fought so had to ensure that there is an independent judiciary in Kenya.
