Murang’a Woman Rep Sabina Chege has refuted claims that she has ditched Jubilee Party for Moses Kuria’s Chama Cha Kazi (CCK).
This comes after reports emerged that Sabina among other leaders from the Mt Kenya region had joined CCK.
The reports claimed that Sabina was expected to vie for Kigumo parliamentary seat contrary to her previous announcement that she would be vying for Murang’a gubernatorial seat in the coming elections.
The second-term lawmaker has now come forward to refute the claims noting that she is still in the gubernatorial race and a Jubilee party member.
She said that the reports were not true, and she had not made such declarations. According to her, the reports are propaganda being propelled by her opponents who want to disrupt her political base.
“I feel like that there are some people who see me as a threat that they have resolved to come up with a tactic to distract my gubernatorial bid,” she said.
Though she maintained she is still a member of the Jubilee Party, she urged the party’s leadership to put their house in order and give its members direction as the general elections approach.
She also emphasized her support for the Azimio la Umoja coalition which is spearheaded by ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
She noted that the coalition aims at shaping the country’s politics.
