Deputy President William Ruto has wooed Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula to join United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ahead of the 2022 polls.
While addressing a rally in Butali, Kakamega County DP Ruto urged the two leaders to support his presidential bid, while at the same time reiterated that they can win the upcoming polls if only they merge.
“I want to ask you, my supporters, do you want Mudavadi and Wetangula to work with hustler or the Kitendawili guy?” he posed amid cheers from UDA supporters.
According to the second in command, an alliance between him and the two One Kenya Alliance (OKA) leaders will propel them to the house on the hill come 2022.
He further said Mudavadi and Wetang’ula will gain more in his government if he is elected the country’s fifth President.
Ruto further castigated Mt Kenya Foundation for conducting an interview for Musalia Mudavadi, yet the tycoons knew very well Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga was their preferred candidate.
“Just the other day they conducted an interview for Musalia, but dint bother to give him the results of whether he passed or not, what they didn’t tell him is that they had a preferred candidate,” Ruto said.
The second in command was speaking in reference to the Mt Kenya Foundation tycoons, who endorsed the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader as their preferred presidential candidate ahead of the 2022 polls.
The sentiments by DP Ruto comes at a time when there are speculations of Mudavadi decamping to UDA ahead of the fast approaching August polls.
During his political tour in the vote rich region of Kakamega DP Ruto addressed rallies at Lwandeti, Butali, Malava and Soy markets in Lugari, Malava and Likuyani.
He said he was proud of the development initiatives that he and President Uhuru Kenyatta had initiated in Kakamega County and cited six technical training institutes, roads and electricity.
