Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga has signalled that he will support Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi for the 2022 Siaya gubernatorial seat.
Rasanga said he will rally behind a candidate who has always supported his government during his two terms.
“I will only support a “transparent” successor who has not been plotting for my downfall,” he said.
And although he didn’t mention anyone by name, Rasanga has had an excellent working relationship with Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi.
One pundit opines, the governor has often praised Wandayi as an exemplary MP in terms of development, the kind of leader who could succeed him after his second term ends in 2022.
” He will definitely support Mr Wandayi who in his own right has done a lot of development in his Ugunja constituency,” he noted.
But most Siaya voters have come out swiftly dismiss such an endorsement saying Rasanga has no moral authority to tell anybody how they are going to vote.
Here is a sample of what they said
Brian Salim Jnr: Who is Rasanga to dictate us on who to elect as his successor?
Mago walo ma pok ne adwaro ayudo.
Fredrick Jakamuga: This guy should not talk of intergrity, he has benefited by stealing what ought to have gone for development, besides he came third during party primary election, if it were not for the wrong decision we always make he would have been history
Don Jahome: If he cannot even influence any development in siaya who is he to influence the outcome of an election
· Patrick Obanda; What has he done for Siaya County to leave as a legacy for him to think that voters will rally behind his preferred candidate in2022?
Who voted for him in the first place!!…
Boaz Waringa: Rasanga is as good as nothing i regret voting for this……….!!!
Suzzy Badia: was your election transparent in the 1st place.
Aloice Ochieng’: RASANGA HAS NO SUPPORT TO OFFER.LET HIM GO HOME IN PEACE AFTER SECURING HUGE PENSIONS FROM COUNTY LEADERSHIP AND HIS PREVIOUS JOB AND PPOA.
To US SIAYA PEOPLE HE HAS HAD HIS DAY AND NOTHING TO TALK ABOUT OTHER THAN SERVING HIS MASTER OBURU DILLIGENTLY …
Eduardo Lish Who is Rasanga? Its high time Luo Nyanza electorate to have a say in electing their leaders as this issue of party politics is messing up things. Rasanga has done nothing to the people but now he has started talking about fronting his successor yet he.
Governor Rasanga has been perceived by Siaya residents as one of the worst-performing governors. He received serious raising in social media when President Kenyatta revealed that Siaya County was one of the worst prepared if Coranavirus visited.
President Kenyatta at the time cited Siaya and Busia counties, whose failure to avail more beds in isolation centres reflected the general slow emergency preparations for a full-blown Covid-19 scenario.
Uhuru said Siaya had a paltry 10 beds in its Covid-19 isolation, nine of which were already occupied with patients. Its neighbor, Busia, had all its 34 beds taken up by truck drivers.
In 2019, Rasanga was ranked 40th out 47 in terms of his performance, beating only 7 governors.
On Tuesday, September 17 another ranking that was released, Rasanga’s performance was so dismal that he did not even qualify to be ranked.
