Ndigwa Secondary school welcomes new boss in charge, Madam Jerusha Ngi’ela retires

On 2nd July Ndigwa Secondary School received a new boss in the acting capacity taking over from the outgoing Madam Jerusha Ngi’ela whose.

The official handling over that was proceeded behind closed doors due to COVID-19 restrictions was witnessed by the B.O.G Chairperson, Sub-County TSC officials, serving acting Deputy Principal Mr. Tom Opondo and other board members present.

Taking over Madam Jerusha’s place was Mr.JJ Okenwa of Maranda High School.

Madama Jerusha joined the school in 2001, setting her names into books as the longest and the most successful leader in the school.

Achievements

During her tenure, the madam’s achievements and inspirations earned her tittle ‘madhe’ meaning mum among her students who celebrated her good personalities equated to true parent.

Taking charge as the newly appointed head the year 2001, madam got a school that was near to its feet due to poor state of infrastructure, students’ attitude, and community negligence.

However, during her time, she tirelessly and with love devoted her service towards the success of her of the institution that earned her great achievements to her retiring date.

Besides the uncountable personal impact on each student’s life, Madam is leaving behind a legacy worth admiring in both physiological and mental aspects.

In her tenure, a single streamed school with a population of less than 100 was transformed into 3 streams modern learning institution with a population of about 900 students with form one already upgraded to 4 stream class.

The school boasts a modern Administration Block with all serving offices under one roof, fully equipped to accommodate both departmental heads and essential offices.

Under her leadership, the school also acquired 56 capacity School Bus, two modern dormitories with 200 beds capacity each, modern library, laboratories, kitchen, a school hall, and accommodation facilities for more than 10 residential teachers.

Her other achievement was ensuring a strong relationship between her administration and the school stakeholder like B.O.G, PTA, teachers, non-teaching staff, students, and the community.

Academic Transformation

In her 20 years of service, Madam Jerusha Ngi’ela brought with her applaudable academic transformation which raised the school’s standards from academic dwarfs to a celebrated center of excellence and a beneficiary of Economic Stimulus Project award for the best performing school.

The school’s performance was raised to the margin of Chianda, Lwak, and Ramba and other extra-county schools’ status.

Till her retirement, her school produced over 300 university students, and several college students thus setting a ladder to the transformation of various homes across the locality.
