The inaugural Miss Rarieda beauty pageant is set to be held at Luanda Kotieno on April 25. The event is being organized and sponsored by online publication rarieda.com
According to the organizers, this first ever nature pageant in Kenya’s Lakeside, pageant, and related activities will advocate for a pollution-free and sustainable environment. “We need an environment that allows for good and healthy living, an environment free from pollution and harm,” said one of the organizers.
Among the issues that will be highlighted by all involded in the pageant include major threats facing the Lake Victoria ecosystem, including overfishing, eutrophication and algae levels, pollution, and invasive exotic species like the water hyacinth.
“There cannot be effective environmental management without improving the livelihoods of millions of people who live and work in Lake catchment. Our efforts are underlined by broader goals of poverty reduction and sustainable growth,’’
The registratration for the contestants commenses soon and the beauty contest is open to all and sundry even though the main event shall be held in Rarieda.
Winners at the event will be given cash prizes among other awards.
