Merging With DP Ruto Is Politically Suicidal, Savula Tells Mudavadi After Earthquake Declaration

Published:

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi’s move to enter into an alliance with Deputy President William Ruto elicited immediate reactions from his home turf.

While some leaders from the Western region were unhappy about the decision, others supported him.

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and MPs Christopher Aseka (Khwisero) and Ayub Savula of Lugari said the move was politically suicidal for Mudavadi.

Oparanya said he had known all along that Mudavadi was not serious about running for president.

“We knew all this a while ago, and it was just a matter of when and not if. We have now been vindicated,” he said.

Oparanya, who belongs to the Azimio La Umoja coalition, said there was no future for Mudavadi under Ruto.

Aseka said his party leader’s decision would dim his political ambitions.

“Selling Ruto in the Luhya Nation is near-impossible,” he added.
