Police in Mombasa has launched a manhunt for a woman who allegedly drugged a man before stealing Ksh596, 000 from his bank account.
According to the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the man was in the coastal town for a business trip.
In the evening, he decided to go to the newly launched VIP Club Volume in Shanzu to unwind.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the man was attracted to an alluring woman identified as Wambui after a few drinks.
He then urged Wambui to join him at his table for more drinks which lasted until 4 am. They afterwards left the club for a nearby flat.
“Hand to hand, they staggered out of the club and hailed a cab that dropped them at Seville flats, where the man had reserved a suite,” said DCI.
According to the victim Upon arrival, he took a glass of juice that is believed to have been laced with a stupefying drug.
“He passed out until yesterday afternoon when the flat’s steward knocked on his door,” DCI added.
In the morning Wambui had gone AWOL and his belongings missing.
