Jakoyo Midiwo Was Fond Of Malaria According To His Brother

The brother to the late Jakoyo Midiwo on Saturday revealed to mourners how the former member of parliament was prone to Malaria.

While speaking during his burial in Gem, the brother expressed how he was shocked with the sudden death of the veteran politician since he had no serious health condition prior to his death, if not just malaria.

The brother who is a doctor also clarified that Jakoyo Midiwo succumbed to Acute Renal Failure which saw all his kidneys stop working simultaneously. However, he stated that the cause of that sudden failure is yet to be established and that investigations are underway with regards to the same.

His burial was attended by various political leaders both from Nyanza and the entire country. Amongst those who attended the final send off were former prime minister Raila Odinga, Siaya governor Cornel Rasanga, Ugunja member of Parliament Opiyo Wandayi, area member of parliament Elisha Akuba and others.

Jakoyo Midiwo died on the evening of 14th June 2021 at the Nairobi Hospital where he had been admitted before.

Jakoyo’s death came barely hours after former Siaya woman rep aspirant Florence Aluodo died of Covid-19.

The late Jakoyo Midiwo who is a first cousin to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga and close ally recently returned to the party after losing the elections in 2017 to the incumbent member of parliament Mr. Elisha.

In the meantime, it was a double tragedy for the family of the late Jakoyo Midiwo as he had been mourning the sister who passed on three days prior to his death.

At the same time, sections of parliament will be named after the late Jakoyo following a resolution by members of the National assembly to have one of the committee rooms and a floor of the new parliamentary building serve that purpose.

The legislators argued that Jakoyo was an outstanding member of parliament and it would only be proper to remember and recognize him in that particular manner.

The MPs while sending their tributes to the fallen hero revealed that they will push the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) to name one of the committee rooms to Jakoyo Midiwo Room in a bid to remember him for the three terms he was an MP.
