Jaguar Faces Imminent Defeat In August 9th Election Following What Happened In Starehe

Published:

Jaguar, real name Charles Njagua Kanyi, could be the first MP to be sent home after August 9th general election after he was chased from his own constituency by voters.

The Starehe MP was among legislators who accompanied deputy president William Ruto during his campaign tour of parts of Nairobi on March 16th 2022.

Jaguar is trying to recapture his Starehe seat on a UDA ticket after decamping from President Uhuru Kenyatta-led Jubilee party which sponsored his candidature in 2017 general election.

However, Jaquar had a tough time trying to sell his candidature to voters as Ruto’s campaign convoy traversed Starehe constituency.

Drama ensued after Jaguar was ushered to the podium to address a crowd in Muthurwa market where he was met with resistance from a section of the crowd who resoundingly showed gestures disproving his bid.

Jaguar was shouted down in several stopovers in Starehe, the jeers and heckling however only got louder specifically in Muthurwa and Ngara areas.

The Starehe voters expressed contempt, scorn and disapproval when Jaguar took to the podium to address them during Ruto’s tour.

The Starehe MP was forced to cut short his speeches when he was booed by his electorates.

“Mimi sitasema maneno mengi…Mungu awabariki,” Jaguar cut short his speech in Muthurwa after being heckled.

The crowds that shouted down Jaguar appeared to warm up to former EALA MP Simon Mbugua who is also eying the Starehe MP seat.

Mbugua, who is also eyeing the seat on a UDA ticket, received warm reception while addressing the same crowd that heckled Jaguar.

Jaguar’s rival resigned from East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) to contest for Starehe seat in the forthcoming August 9th general election.
