‘I Am Not Uhuru’s Project’- Raila Speaks Ahead Of 2022 Polls

Published:

ODM leader Raila Odinga has once again reiterated that he is not in any way President Uhuru Kenyatta’s project ahead of the upcoming 2022 polls.

The former premier further said he does not require President Uhuru’s endorsement ahead of the 2022 polls in which he is a frontrunner.

Raila who was speaking on a local television poured cold water on claims by critics that he was a State project.

“He doesn’t have to endorse me, and I’m not a project, I don’t want to be seen as a project,” Raila said.

During the interview, the ODM leader also steered clear of the running mate discussion, saying with more than seven months to go to the next polls, there was still time to debate, agree and a pick a running mate.

Raila further said the country now needs an engineer so that it can catch up with other countries which were at the same state of development in 1963.

“Look at these different presidencies, our first president was an anthropologist, he gave us the Kenyanisation of the Kenyan economy,” Raila added.

If he clinches the top job, Raila plans to formalise the informal sector as well as upscaling the affordable housing scheme and rolling out universal healthcare for all.

“So that Kenya can leapfrog and reach the countries that were in a similar state in 1963 when Kenya became a sovereign State,” he added.
