UK MP Chris Bryant has come out to narrate how he regularly touched up by older gay colleagues in the British parliament.
Speaking to LBC radio, Chris Bryant said he was repeatedly harassed sexually when he arrived in the House of Commons (UK’s lower House) as a young gay man.
The Labour MP said he didn’t speak of the incident before because he did not want to be part of the story, but had now gained courage to talk about it.
“I remember when I came in, in 2001, I was regularly touched up by older, senior gay – well, they weren’t out but – MPs. I never felt I was able to report it because you end up being part of the story, and that’s the last thing you want. And I think a lot of women have been through that,” Bryant told LBC Radio.
The Labour MP further stated that he was sexually harassed by four senior MPs who have not publicly come out as gay. He however didn’t name them.
“I was shocked at the time…none of them are out of course. I think that now if anybody would do that I would be absolutely robust. I would a call the person out immediately and I would make a complaint.”
Bryant’s revelation comes after a MP from the ruling Conservative Party Neil Parish was forced to resign after admitting he watched p*rn in the House of Commons.
A total of 56 MPs are facing allegations of sexual misconduct including three members of Boris Johnson’s Cabinet, it was reported on Monday, May 2nd.
