‘Freedom is coming’ for Miguna Miguna

Published:

Firebrand senior lawyer, Dr. Miguna Miguna has yet again hinted at his anticipated return to Kenya.

The Toronto-based advocate shared a reschedule of his arrival date and time via his official Twitter account, to 20th October 2022 at 6.00 AM, EAT. This comes days after he tweeted that he will be jetting into the country on the 24th of October 2022. In his recent tweet, Miguna retracted his previous post and rescheduled his arrival to an earlier date.

Dr. Miguna claims that his itinerary is a ‘big deal’ that a lot of Kenyans can’t wait for and he had to consider them. He added that he also had to change the arrival time to morning hours so that many can witness his touchdown at the JKIA.

Miguna’s predicaments escalated in March 2018 when he was forcefully deported to Dubai after the infamous mock swearing-in of Raila Odinga as “people’s president” in February that year. Since then, Miguna’s attempts to return to his motherland have borne no fruits even with the high court’s interventions.

In January 2020, Miguna was stuck in Berlin, Germany on his way to Kenya where to his shock, he was notified that his passport was flagged with a ‘RED ALERT’ hence no airline could put him onboard.

After their relationship got sour, the former candid supporter and legal advisor of Raila Odinga is seemingly allied to the new government, which many think is behind his relief. In addition, the controversial lawyer is planning to seek the legal way for compensation once he lands in Kenya.

However, no Kenyan authority has confirmed the lifting of Miguna’s ban to travel back into Kenya.
