Eliud Kipchoge Arrives in Kenya After Breaking His Own Record in the Berlin Marathon

Published:

Two-time Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge returned home to Kenya after winning the Berlin marathon.

Kipchoge returned to Berlin’s streets this year after breaking his own world record which he set in 2018 by two hours, one minute, and 39 seconds.

Kipchoge equalled Haile Gebrselassie’s record of four marathon victories after finishing second in 2013, taking first place in 2015, 2017 and 2018, and attempting to win the race on a fifth occasion.

The last seven world records were established in Berlin, therefore Kipchoge did not completely rule out breaking his own record.

“I am planning to still push the limit where it is…even if I push for a second I think that will be a huge success. When I think of Berlin I am thinking of the fastest and flattest course. I am thinking of Berlin as the only place where a human being can show his/her potential of pushing the limits.” Kipchoge said.

Eliud Kipchoge demonstrated that “No Human Is Limited” when he ran the Vienna, Austria, marathon in 1:59:40:2, breaking the two-hour barrier for the first time ever.
Kipchoge is currently the greatest marathon athlete of all time; in fact, he is the goat. He has intimated that he would like to return to London for a race that he has won four times.

It is now undeniable that Kipchoge is the best marathon runner, and after cutting 30 seconds off his previous record in Berlin, he thinks he can go even faster. In an interview with news outlets, he continued, “I think there are still aspirations for me. “I won’t say if I can complete a formal race in under two hours, but I’ll strive to beat the world record anyhow.

The 37-year-old was in a league of his own, setting a scorching pace through the flat, quick inner-city route on a cloudy day to solidify his status as the greatest marathon runner ever. He has now won 15 of his 17 career marathons, including two Olympic victories and 10 major crowns.
