In all Dictatorships, the first victim is usually the media. Kisumu Mosque Demolition as we speak , there is a major crisis in Kisumu. 5,000 innocent Kenyans of Nubian origin, and Muslim by religion are homeless. But media is silent.
The Muslims had successfully obtained a court order halting the demolitions on the land that they had occupied for the longest time possible since the reign of the first Kenyan President Jomo Kenyatta.
The looming demolition saw the Nubian community utilize all the available means within their reach to negotiate with those in power, which included taking legal actions by going to the court. Asa result, the court halted any action on the land by the government whether county or national. Further, they reached all the Nyanza leaders for intervention including the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
However, the homes were still flattened at around 4am, an indication that we have people in power that thrive on brutalizing the poor in the society. This time, they brought down a Mega Mosque… A Mosque that was not built yesterday. A Mosque that has been there for decades…..
All these done against a Court Order…. Yes, valid Court Order, issued by the Judiciary.
After the Demolitions, the fake Nyanza leaders are now at the fore front pretending how they are bringing help to these vulnerable people.

Shockingly, the media is giving this humanitarian crisis a total blackout just like the recent demolitions that occurred in Nairobi’s Kariobangi.
In the meantime, the arrogance by which this mosque was brought down despite a legal court order may not go unpunished especially for those who engineered the whole thing.
