Bondo Police Commander dies after developing fever, breathing problems

Bondo Sub-County Police Commander Anthony Wafula died on Monday night after developing fever and breathing problems.

Citizen Digital was the first to report that Mr. Wafula, who returned to the county a week ago after visiting Nairobi, passed on at the Bondo Sub-county Hospital where he was rushed at around 11pm.

After the trip to Nairobi, the police boss is said to have began feeling unwell until last night when his condition deteriorated at around 11pm and was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed at around 1am.

He had returned his children to Nairobi immediately after the partial lockdown that had imposed in the city was lifted and only came back to Bondo a few days ago.

Among the first people to mourn him is Orange Party’s Communication Director Philip Etale who said the people of Bondo and Lugari have lost a real worker and a gentleman.
” Mr. Antony Wafula, one of the finest cops I have ever come across. Just three weeks ago, we spoke and you were in high spirit. Today you are no more. The people of Bondo whom you served as their OCPD are mourning. The people of Lugari, your motherland are crying. RIP Omwami,” he wrote.

Siaya County Police Commander Francis Kooli said samples have already been picked from the late officer’s body and taken to the KEMRI lab in Kisumu for testing to ascertain the cause of his death.

The late Wafula’s body was moved to the Bondo Sub-county Hospital mortuary.
