Residents of Bonchari constituency are mourning the passing on of their member of parliament honorable Oroo Oyieka who died on Monday evening while undergoing treatment.
The member of parliament who was serving his second term passed on at the Aga Khan hospital in Kisumu where he had been admitted.
According to the family members, the legislator died at the facility after battling with a long illness.
His death was announced the same day the Garissa senator Yusuf Haji died while receiving treatment at Nairobi’s Aga Khan hospital.
Oroo Oyieka becomes the third Kisii leader to die this year following the death of Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama and former cabinet minister Simeon Nyachae.
The former head of Public Service Mr. Nyachae passed on at the Nairobi Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit where he had been admitted since March 31 after he tripped and fell at his home.

Amongst the leaders who attended the burial include President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy president William Samoei Ruto, former vice president Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, former prime minister Raila Amollo Odinga, Baringo senator Gideon Moi, ANC Leader Musalia Mudavadi, Ford Kenya Leader Moses Wetangula, Embakasi member of parliament Babu Owino, Gatundu member of parliament Moses Kuria amongst other leaders.
