All is set for the Azimio La Umoja event set to be staged in Murang’a as Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga takes his presidential campaigns to the vote rich Mt. Kenya region.
Hundreds of police officers have been deployed to Ihura Stadium in Murang’a town, ahead of the Azimio la Umoja meeting.
This follows claims that some unnamed people were planning to disrupt the meeting that will be graced by ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Legislators Peter Kimari (Mathioya) and Nduati Ngugi (Gatanga) have however, assured attendants that sufficient security will be provided and urged those with such plans not to be misused by politicians.
Over 100 political leaders and prominent businessmen are also expected at the meeting that is scheduled to officially start at noon when Raila is expected to arrive.
Hundreds of residents are already streaming into the stadium with a host of popular local artists entertaining the milling crowd.
On the other hand, his political nemesis Deputy President William Ruto will be in Kirinyaga where he is expected to woo the electorate with his Bottom Up economic model approach ahead of the August polls.
