Sitting on a spacious piece of land in Masaku, the county office presents a sight to behold from afar, and one could easily mistake it for the president’s State House office in Nairobi However, Mutua is said to have drawn the inspiration to build the state-of-the-art office from the United States.
The architectures of the vast structure are believed to have modeled it on the American White House. The office has two wings, the West Wing which would be hosting the governor, his Chief of Staff and executive meeting lounges and the East Wing would house the office of the First Lady, the governor’s advisors and other support staff.
Mutua’s White House also has an in-house conference facility that can hold up to 200 people and banquet rooms for entertaining high profile guests. Sources say the office meets the standards of hosting the president as it has been fitted with all the necessary facilities.
Netizens trooped to social media pages to share their views as soon as the building was officially opened on Wednesday, May 6.
Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has built his very own ‘White House’ for Ksh 350 million in the midst of a global pandemic. While other governors have built hospitals, ICU and isolation facilities, Gov. Mutua is using public funds to satisfy his misplaced needs.#GovMutuaHostsCoG
