Amber Ray struggled to make ends met while living as a single mother in Githurai 45 before she got lucky and struck it rich.
The controversial socialite gave birth to her son Gavin when she was just 18 years old, she really struggled after breaking up with her baby daddy.
Amber Ray was forced to live in a single room in Githurai, and did all sorts of menial jobs just to put food on the table.
Some of the jobs Amber Ray did include; hawking matumbo (offal), cereals, milk. She was also worked as a waitress and head of customer care at e-Citizen.
“I used to leave Gavin (her son) at my friend’s place. I rush to Tao KMC then back to Kahawa West nazungusha matumbo. I had to sell stock yote ya kila siku since I did not have a fridge. I remember the mathree people and the way they used to frustrate me juu ya harufu ya matumbo, yenyewe acheni mungu aitwe mungu,” Amber Ray said in a Q&A.
She added that;
“Nimeuza matumbo, cereals. Nimeuza maziwa, nimekua waitress and my last job nilikua head of customer care e-citizen… It’s just that we don’t look like what we have been through. We work hard behind the curtains. There’s no easy way to succeed, ata kupata pesa poa from a man, you must have your money kwanza… You can’t let people feed you all the time coz they are humans and humans get tired without notice.”
In a recent interview with Obinna, Amber Ray said her first salary was Ksh13,000 while working as a waitress at a Nairobi casino.
She said she was struggling to make ends meet because she came from a poor family and all she wanted was a job.
“I come from a humble background, grew up with a lot of struggles. I would pass by some joints downtown after I get my salary. I no longer fancy chicken and chips,” she said.
Amber said thanks to her work ethic, she made more money from tips than she got as salary.
“I used to work extremely hard that I managed to save my salary and pay all my bills with the money I got from my customers for good services,” she said.
Amber Ray’s luck changed when she started having affairs with rich married men. She got married as a second wife to multimillionaire politician Zaheer Jhanda in 2016.
Jhanda’s first wife Aaliyah posted on Facebook that Amber Ray had gone to a witchdoctor so that she could get love portions to charm her husband.
Complete with photographic evidence of Amber Ray in a shack, holding two chickens, one white and black, and covered from head to toe in strange clothing, Aaliyah said the picture was taken in a witchdoctor’s den where Amber had gone to seek portions to ensnare Jhanda.
The socialite has had flings with at least four married men leading to her being christened ‘notorious husband snatcher’.
