Maina Kageni is one of the most eligible senior bachelors in Kenya, some people think he is gay because not even paparazzi or gossipers have ever whispered about him dating the opposite sex.
Maina was born on 29th of June in 1974, he is 47 years as of March 2022. Even though he will be 50 in the next three years, Maina is still hesitant to marry.
The Classic 105 presenter has been trying to keep his private life off social media. He once posted his son who lives in America.
A lot of Kenyans believe Maina is gay since he doesn’t have plans to settle down in marriage. Nobody even knows his girlfriend or his ex-girlfriend.
But why is Maina still single? Well it turns out that the veteran Classic 105 suffers from a condition called gamophobia which makes him steer clear of marriage.
Gamophobia is a fear of marriage and commitment. It is characterized by feelings of excessive and persistent fear of being in a relationship, making a commitment, or getting married.
Gamophobia can be caused by a mixture of genetic influences, family background, and past experiences. The condition can negatively affect a person’s life and may lead to loneliness or isolation. It can be treatment through therapy.
Maina Kageni revealed for the first time that he was suffering from gamophobia while speaking in 2020 interview with Daniel Ndambuki on Churchill Show journey series.
Classic 105 presenter stated that the reason he will never marry was because he wants to maintain his freedom.
According to the radio legend, his brother and sister have children and they are happy. He is the last born in a family of three siblings.
During the interview when asked about when he is getting married, Maina told Churchill to tell people that to listen to his show in the morning on Classic 105 if they wanted to know why he is not settling down in marriage.
Most callers to Maina’s show talk about how marriages are not working, most focus on the negative side of marriages.
The breakfast show is mainly a discussion of what couples go through in their marriage life. Most people call in to share their experience with their spouses.
“Listen to the conversations and then make your recommendation to me, inbox. It [marriage] looks like a lot of work. To much work,” said Maina Kageni.
Speaking to Churchill, Maina cited late billionaire Chris Kirubi’s thought about marriage (the tycoon died a bachelor though he had married at one point of his life). Kirubi termed marriage as enslavement.
“CK said marriage is a jail. I’m a free bird. I need to move. I need to wake up and decide I’m going to Dar-es-salaam tomorrow, no questions. I don’t know how to ask for permission to go somewhere. I’m the embassy myself,” Maina explained.
