The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has dismissed a statement issued by former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale claiming that he had been endorsed by a section of its grassroots leaders from Ikolomani.
Khalwale had earlier announced that he had a breakfast meeting with ODM leaders from Ikolomani who he claimed had endorsed his bid for Kakamega governorship.
“This morning, I held a breakfast meeting with Ikolomani North @TheODMparty leaders. Am so grateful that they took the opportunity to endorse me for Kakamega Governor 2022,” Khalwalwe said.
According to the ODM party, however, the persons Khalwale met were “imposters” purporting to be ODM members.
“There has not been any meeting of ODM officials with the former Senator of Kakamega County Bonny Khalwale. None of our officials in Kakamega has met and endorsed him as he claims on his Twitter handle. Those are imposters,” ODM said in a statement.
Khalwale who is allied to Deputy President William Ruto’s political camp is a former Kakamega Senator and is eyeing to succeed current governor Wycliffe Oparanya in the upcoming August Polls.
