Atwoli Asks DP Ruto To Desist From Insulting Him During Political Campaigns

Published:

Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) boss Francis Atwoli has asked Deputy President William Ruto to desist from abusing him and fellow leaders during this electioneering period.

Addressing members of the public on Monday Atwoli called out Ruto over what he termed as a show of contempt towards other leaders.

“Kindly tell Ruto to desist from abusing fellow leaders. He is looking down upon leaders including me who is an elder and a leader,” Atwoli said.

Atwoli’s sentiments come days after Kitui county governor Charity Ngilu asked DP Ruto to desist from abusing fellow leaders.

The second in command is notorious for mimicking and throwing shade at political competitors during his political campaigns with the latest causality being that of  Wiper party leader Steven Kalonzo Musyoka who Ruto said lost his hair while supporting the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.

“Ruto should stop insulting leaders and the regions they come from. Let him look at himself. The age difference should make him understand that he should not be insulting Kalonzo who has been in leadership for a long time,” Ngilu said.

In his statement, Ruto said he supported Raila in the 2007 General Election until he became the Prime Minister.

“I have no problem with anyone. I helped Raila become the Prime Minister, but it got to a point where I realised that he does not love God. I got tired then surrendered him to Kalonzo,” Ruto said.

With the August polls fast approaching the politics of hate, propaganda and hate speech from the politicians is expected to rent the air in the next few months.
