Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju has castigated Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) aspirants for exploiting party leader Raila Odinga ahead of the August Polls.
Speaking during a political tour in Migori Tuju stated that aspirants have the tendency of using images of Raila on their campaign posters at the expense of popularising the former Prime Minister.
According to Tuju, if those aspirants cannot in any way mobilise their supporters to register as voters and vote for him in the upcoming August elections then they are simply exploiting the former premier.
“If you don’t organise people to go and register as voters, then it means that you are just exploiting his name by sticking his portraits on your cars and respective areas during campaigns,” Tuju said.
Tuju further noted that Raila did not emerge winner in the 2017 General Elections due to low voter registration in ODM strongholds.
“The people around you are enough for you as an MCA, but they are not enough for Raila as a presidential candidate come August. He needs those who will register themselves as voters,” Tuju said.
The sentiments by Tuju come in the wake of staunch Jubilee insiders saying they will endorse the former premier as their favourite candidate ahead of the fast-approaching August polls.
Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe reiterated that the ruling party will endorse the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader for the top seat given the party chairman President Uhuru Kenyatta is going to hand over power once Kenya choose their next leader.
