City lawyer Donald Kipkorir has asked Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege should be the flag bearer of the Raila-led Azimio la Umoja Movement in the Nairobi gubernatorial seat race, with Westlands MP Tim Wanyoyi as her running mate.
“Those intending to contest Nairobi gubernatorial seat on Azimio ticket are my friends and known them for so long. But thinking aloud, what if we let Sabina Chege take it and Tim Wanyonyi be Deputy with executive powers?” the flamboyant lawyer wrote on his social media pages.
Kipkorir said Sabina has showed great support for Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“Sabina Chege has demonstrated utmost loyalty to Uhuru and Baba,” he added.
Sabina has served as Murang’a county women representative for two terms. She was elected on a Jubilee party ticket in 2017 and a TNA party in 2013.
Initially, she was Deputy President William Ruto’s fierce defender before shifting allegiance to the pro-handshake team.
This week, she camped in Nyanza region alongside National Assembly Majority Leader Amos Kimunya calling on residents to register as voters.
The outspoken legislator is on record saying she is not afraid of being associated with Raila Odinga.
She has since declared interest in the Murang’a governor seat.
Wanyonyi on the other hand has shown interest in the Nairobi gubernatorial seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
Others who are in the race to succeed Ann Kananu are businessman Richard Ngatia (Azimio), former Starehe Member of Parliament (MP) Margaret Wanjiru (UDA) and Johnson Sakaja (ANC) among others.
