Starehe Member of Parliament Charles Njagua has joined Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Movement (UDA).
Njagua was received by the DP in his official residence in Karen.
The Starehe legislator has been leaning towards President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga’s camp.
“Welcome to UDA – Kazi ni Kazi, Starehe MP, Charles Njagua Kanyi (Jaguar). Hustler Nation welcomes you, Sir. Jaguar was received by H.E the Deputy President William Ruto today, Monday morning,” UDA posted on Twitter.
He will face off with EALA MP Simon Mbugua in the UDA party nominations.
Njagua, a musician by profession, joined politics in 2017 when he trounced veteran politician Maina Kamanda to win Jubilee Party nomination for the Starehe MP seat.
The outcome of the nomination vote held on April 21, 2017 was bitterly disputed by Kamanda, but President Uhuru prevailed upon him to the musician.
In return, Kamanda was promised a nomination slot as a member of the National Assembly, which he was given.
