Deputy President United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has unveiled a team of lawyers that will defend the party ahead of the upcoming 2022 polls.
The team of lawyers dubbed ‘UDA Lawyers Brigade’ has its work cut out with the general elections fast approaching.
While addressing the press UDA Secretary in charge of Legal Affairs Edward Muriu said the lawyers will help the party in its quest to uphold the rule of law and safeguard the constitution.
“This is a group of lawyers who subscribe to the bottom-up economic model under the leadership of William Samoei Ruto and have volunteered their services to the party ahead of the 2022 polls,” Muriu said.
Muriu further said the team of lawyers will be exposed to legal environment and given challenging assignments as part of DP Ruto’s youth empowerment program.
“Youth empowerment is a key pillar of Bottom-Up economic model and as a party, it’s our duty and responsibility to bring the young lawyers together, expose them to potential clients, give them challenging assignments, mentor them to be brave soldiers fighting for democracy and rule of law for the benefit of all the hustlers in the republic,” Muriu added.
He also said the lawyers will defend Kenyans against laws and road blocks set out by the State and the County Government which hamper trade for the small traders for the ordinary Kenyan.
Law Society Of Kenya President Nelson Havi will be part of the team of lawyers that will defend the second in command.
Havi has also declared his interest in the Westland parliamentary seat ahead of the 2022 polls.
