Kisii Deputy Governor Joshua Maangi now claims that he and Migori County Governor used to give Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga sleepless nights in Nyanza by associating with Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking at a meeting with Raila in Kisumu where he officially announced his reunion with Raila, Maangi said that he has spoken with his boss and Kisii Governor James Ongwae and they have agreed that he will no longer bring trouble to Raila’s camp.
“Pale Kisii mimi ndio yule nilikuwa naleta tabu kidogo an yule rafiki yangu kule Migori anaitwa Obado,” Maangi said.
The Deputy Governor revealed that he opted to jump from Ruto’s UDA and rejoin ODM after noting that Raila is the Nyanza region political supremo and it is only wise to support him ahead of the 2022 polls.
“Baba ni mtu wetu hapa Nyanza na watu wengine ukuwaangalia kule upande mwengine they are organizing themselves to vote a block to protect their own. Sasa si kama watu wa Nyanza, so why can’t we also protect our own and our own is none rather Raila Amollo Odinga,” he said.
Maangi further assured Raila of his political as well as rally members of the Gusii community to support him ahead of the 2022 General Elections.
Maangi, a long time ally of Deputy President William Ruto decamp to Raila’s side after conspicuously going missing at Ruto’ recent trips to the Kisii region.
Notably, he skipped Ruto’s rallies in Nyaribari Chache, Nyaribari Masaba, Bobasi and Itibo markets and opted to attend Raila’s Azimio la Umoja National Convention that was organizational Kasarani on December 10.
