Matiang’i Orders Police Officers Not To Proceed For Christmas Break

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has directed all security officers in the country to be on duty during this festive season and enhance security.

According to Matiang’i, this directive is an effort by the national government to ensure Kenyans are safe as they enjoy the festivities with their family and friends.

Matiang’i also said the directive came directly from President Uhuru Kenyatta, given his capacity as Chairperson of the National Security Council.

“The directive came from the president in his capacity as chairman of the National Security Council,” Matiangí said.

The officers include police and members of the National Government Administration officers, regional, county, deputy county, assistant county commissioners, chiefs and assistant chiefs.

Matiang’i asked the officers to demonstrate utmost loyalty to the government, while at the same time supporting its projects and policies.

He further urged Kenyans to exercise vigilance and caution in the surrounding as they enjoy the festive season.

“All security agents ordered to be on high alert over the festive season, while at the same time Kenyans are also urged to exercise vigilance and caution in their surroundings,” the CS said in a statement.
