Popular Luo artist Suzanna Owiyo is mourning the death of her father who passed on last night while undergoing treatment.
The late Thaddeus Owiyo Ongoro who hails from North Nyakach and is a popular figure in the community having raised a talented daughter Suzanna Owiyo. Owiyo is not only an international musician but also an actress per excellence.
While recognizing the loss of her dad Thaddeus Owiyo, Suzanna Owiyo wrote: “It’s hard to say goodbye. I know you are in a better place, where there’s is no pain. You are at peace now. You’l always be in my heart. Thank you for being a great father & a mentor to many. Rest well Dad. Till we meet again.”
Residents from the region understood Mzee Thaddeus Owiyo as a prolific Nyatiti player and it is on that ground that he introduced his daughter Suzanna Owino to music at a young age. As a result, her passion for music saw her win a number of trophies in high school’s music festivals at both the national and the provincial levels.

The late Thaddeus Owiyo has been described by those who knew him as a loving father who was always there to issue directions to her children. He also encouraged talent amongst them which significantly contributed to Suzanna being one of the most celebrated musicians and an actress globally.
