Properties worth millions of shillings have been razed after a fire broke out in one of the largest electrical shops in Kisumu County.
Modern Electricals and Hardware, Kadianga and other small shops went up in flames in the Monday morning incident.
The fire is said to have started at the Modern Electrical shop at about 10.30 am.
More than 100 people lost their source of livelihood after the fire incident.
Nyanza Regional Commissioner James Kianda said they suspect the cause of fire to be an electric fault.
“We have managed to salvage some of the goods. No deaths have been reported,” Kianda.
He says investigation has been launched to establish the real cause of fire.
Kianda said the regional disaster team will evaluate the extent of damage the shop owners have incurred.

Combined efforts by the Kisumu County Fire Brigade , Kibos Sugar and the Kisumu Airport Authority fire brigades for the better part of the morning struggled to contain the inferno as it consumed the electricals in the tin walled walled shops.
Security officers had a rough time as they tried to control the surging crowd who wanted to witness the inferno.
