Three students at Chulaimbo Boys Secondary School in Kisumu County have been suspended for allegedly stealing chapatis from the canteen.
The three, who are all in Form Three, were handed two-week suspensions by the school management over the alleged incident, a guardian of one of the boys – who sought anonymity – said she was summoned to the school on Wednesday by the deputy principal over the conduct of her son.
Upon arriving at the institution, she narrated, she was reportedly informed that her son was part of a racket that has been stealing chapatis from the canteen.
She said she was informed that the boy, alongside two others, was caught red-handed next to the school canteen with the intention of breaking in.
She also added that, according to the school authorities, the canteen has been losing close to 200 chapatis a week under mysterious circumstances.
Years back five students from the same school Chulaimbo Secondary School were charged with arson at the Maseno Law Courts.
The students denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Sang Kipngeno who released them on a cash bail of Sh30,000 or Sh100,000 bond each.
The five are suspected to be behind a fire that gutted two dormitories on Saturday.
About 200 students were affected in the fire incident and spent the night in classrooms and dining hall.
No casualties were reported since the fire broke out at 9pm while students were in class for their evening preps
